When a concerned passerby heard unusual, faint noises coming from a dumpster, they soon realized that the sounds were actually cries for help from a dog in distress.

Acting swiftly, they reached out to the Tullahoma Animal Shelter for assistance.

David Reed and Chris Cabral from the shelter responded promptly, arriving at the scene to investigate.

Peering into the dumpster, they were met with a heartbreaking sight.

Inside, they discovered a small puppy trapped in a white garbage bag tied tightly shut. The frightened pup had stopped barking and was barely able to breathe.

Fearing for the dog’s life, Reed and Cabral used a net to gently lift the bag from the dumpster.

With urgency, they cut the bag open, revealing a pup that lay still, making them worry they were too late.

Cheryl Rhoads, the animal control manager at Tullahoma Animal Shelter, told The Dodo, “He was not moving or making any noise. As soon as he started breathing again, we contacted a vet for emergency assistance.”

The little dog, who was later named Oscar, was immediately taken to the vet where he was given fluids, medications, and a much-needed grooming.

His rescuers are overjoyed to see the once frail and motionless puppy now full of energy and happiness, embracing his new life.

Eventually, once Oscar’s situation is resolved, he will be ready to find his forever home—a day that will mark a well-deserved new beginning for him.

Best of luck, Oscar—you’ve already made such incredible progress.
