According to the Humane Society, India is home to over 30 million street dogs and unfortunately has the highest rate of rabies-related human fatalities globally.
With countless dogs vying for survival in terms of space, food, and safety, an injury like Penny’s could easily have led to severe pain or even death without timely help. Thankfully, Penny’s fate changed when Animal Aid Unlimited stepped in.
Upon examining Penny, the rescuers immediately noticed that her eye was severely damaged. She was swiftly taken to their medical facility, where tests confirmed that her facial injuries were minimal aside from the eye, which would require surgical removal.
Despite the loss of her eye, Penny seemed optimistic about her future and quickly adapted to her new environment. Within just one day at the rescue hospital, she began to trust the caregivers around her, showcasing her resilience and spirit.
Penny thrived after her recovery and has blossomed into a cheerful and energetic dog. One of the rescuers beautifully said, “Love is seen with the heart, not the eyes.” Thanks to the operation, Penny is free from pain, and her reduced vision does not hinder the immense love she has to offer.
Now, Penny is a lively and affectionate dog brimming with love and happiness. Her life has been entirely changed for the better, ensuring she never has to face the hardships of street life again.
