Some dogs perform extraordinary feats beyond being loyal companions. This is true for Ukraine’s renowned bomb-sniffing dog, Patron.

His name, meaning “Ammo” in Ukrainian, perfectly suits this exceptional Jack Russell Terrier. Though small in size, Patron’s intelligence and bravery are immense.

Patron has detected 250 mines, preventing countless potential injuries and fatalities. His heroism has earned him a well-deserved reputation and thousands of followers on social media. There’s even fan art celebrating his bravery.

Originally intended to be a show dog, Patron’s path changed when his owner trained him for bomb detection.

Patron adapted quickly, staying calm during explosions and becoming vital to the bomb disposal team.

Weighing only 4 kg, he is too light to trigger anti-personnel mines, which require 5 kg to detonate.

Patron enjoys typical dog activities when not on duty and displays a playful and affectionate demeanor.

But when he dons his vest, he transforms into a courageous military dog. His love for digging has made him especially skilled in his work.

Patron’s remarkable efforts were recognized by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, who presented him with an award.
