In a surprising encounter, Susan Kehoe of Highland Lakes, New Jersey, experienced an unusual visitor when a black bear used its mouth to open her front door and entered her home.
Kehoe managed to record the astonishing moment as the bear, after entering, attempted to close the door behind it.

The bear had initially used its mouth to open the door, catching Kehoe off guard. Despite the shock, she remained calm and politely asked the bear to leave.

“Close the door, sweetie,” Kehoe told the bear, treating it like a pet. “No, no, no, hon. Close the door. Close the door.” Remarkably, the bear seemed to understand her gentle commands and tried to close the door with its mouth.
Praising the bear, Kehoe encouraged, “Good boy! Close it. Close it. Oh, what a good boy!” However, the bear wasn’t quite ready to leave and reopened the door, prompting Kehoe to humorously admonish, “You’re going to open it again, aren’t you?” Indeed, the bear did just that.

“Close the door, you little stinker,” she said as the bear hesitated.
In Highland Lakes, black bears are a common sight, and this particular bear had visited Kehoe’s home earlier in the year.
As a black bear biologist, Kehoe was well-prepared for such encounters and knew how to handle the situation to prevent the bear from becoming aggressive.

Speaking to Inside Edition, Kehoe explained, “They can tell by the tone of your voice how to react.”
