Seeing how some owners mistreat their dogs can be heartbreaking, but Yuki’s story is fierce.
Yuki spent her early life confined to a small cage, neglected and without a chance to move freely. This severe confinement led to numerous health issues. However, her life took a positive turn when rescuers finally saved her.

Upon her rescue, Yuki showed immediate trust, sensing she was safe. Although she appeared only slightly malnourished, an examination revealed that her bones hadn’t appropriately developed due to her confinement. Vets worked hard to help her regain mobility through physiotherapy.
Lara, who heard Yuki’s story, adopted her without hesitation. “We got her home, and she was shy.
Spending your whole first year trapped in a cage will do that to a dog,” Lara shared with GeoBeats Animals. Yuki’s sweet personality gradually emerged, and she started enjoying her new life.

When introduced to Lara’s other dogs, Yuki adjusted well, forming a special bond with Amira, a dog with no front legs.
Their playful friendship brought joy to their household. Lara expressed her happiness, saying, “It’s the most wonderful thing to see two dogs who have had such a rough start in life just leave it all behind and live like the puppies they were never given the chance to be.”
Yuki’s attachment to Lara is heartwarming. She follows Lara everywhere, even attempting to climb stairs to stay close. Despite her past, Yuki has embraced her new life enthusiastically and joyfully.

However, the long-term effects of her confinement cannot be entirely undone. Surgeons confirmed that her bones would never fully heal, but they were amazed by her ability to move. They advised Lara that staying active would help Yuki maintain her mobility as she aged.
To support her, Lara provides supplements to prevent early arthritis, which has been effective.
“It’s such a magical relationship between a person and a dog that needs extra help. It’s hard for me to swallow what was done to her, but she does not wear the trauma. She has put it behind her, and she’s just too busy living her best life,” Lara said.

Yuki’s transformation shows how love and care can turn a life around. We wish them all the best.
