Life took a harsh turn for a neglected dog in the Algarve region of Portugal, until a kind stranger changed everything with a compassionate act.
Loved across the globe, dogs do not always receive the attention they deserve. For one greyhound, his days were filled with despair after being tied up and abandoned in a dirty alley near The Villa Seoul Resort, ignored by those passing by.
Occasionally, passersby tossed leftovers his way, but the tight chain around his neck made it difficult for him to eat. This dog once enjoyed a joyful life with a warm family; a husband, wife, and two daughters who cherished him.
He fondly remembered the playful days of his puppyhood, exploring his home and relishing sunny moments with them.
However, those joyous days ended when the girls left for college and the parents began neglecting him, leaving him alone for weeks at a time.
Ultimately, the husband took him for a long walk, only to cruelly abandon him in a dim alley, chaining him to a sewer pipe. The confused dog waited, hopeful for his owner’s return, but no one came back.
Days stretched into weeks as he grew weaker, more isolated, and scared, feeling resigned to his fate with a broken spirit.
While many noticed him, no one took action until one afternoon when he collapsed, too weak to move. It was then that a woman, struck by his dire condition, set him free and took him with her.
She brought him to the Sengdanu Animal Association in Curaçao, where the staff named him Valentine. In poor health, he required immediate medical attention and proper nourishment.
The devoted team worked tirelessly to provide him with the care he needed, including medicine, nutritious food, and affection. Valentine also battled significant emotional trauma, leaving him shy and fearful around people.
Nonetheless, a dedicated young volunteer named Laura took it upon herself to help him heal, spending time with him every day.
Gradually, Valentine began to recover both physically and emotionally. As they bonded, Laura grew fond of him and chose to adopt him once he was well.
After enduring so much hardship, Valentine finally discovered a loving home where he could enjoy the remainder of his life in comfort and happiness.
