Seattle’s Woodland Park Zoo is excited as it welcomes the birth of four healthy lion cubs, marking the first litter born at the zoo in over 20 years. The last lion birth occurred in 1991.
The 11-day-old cubs, along with their three-year-old mother, Adia, are under close observation, and both mother and cubs are reported to be doing well.

To ensure the well-being of the lion family, they are currently housed in a maternity ward away from public view to minimize human interaction.
Veterinarians conduct regular check-ups and vaccinations, but overall, Adia is left to care for her offspring naturally, a task she’s handling admirably as a first-time mother.
Webcam footage captures heartwarming moments of Adia nursing, grooming, and tenderly tending to her young, showcasing her maternal instincts.

Despite being a first-time mother, Adia demonstrates excellent caregiving skills, with the cubs already showing signs of growth and vitality.
The litter results from a carefully planned mating between Adia and 13-year-old Hubert, brought together as part of the Species Survival Plan, which aims to ensure genetic diversity and demographic stability among animals across North America.
Due to their age and size, the cubs will remain out of public view until they are older and more mobile.

The zoo requires temperatures to reach a minimum of 50 degrees before visitors can glimpse the adorable cubs.
For now, enthusiasts can enjoy videos and photos of the lion family shared by the zoo.
