New Snow Leopard Cubs at Big Cat Sanctuary Named After Public Vote

The Big Cat Sanctuary in Kent recently introduced two adorable snow leopard cubs, revealing their names as “Zaya” and “Attan.”

These names were chosen through a public voting competition, which raised over £6,600.

The funds will support the daily care of the snow leopard family and contribute to the sanctuary’s conservation donations at the end of the year.

The sanctuary’s curator, Briony Smith, expressed gratitude for the community’s participation, saying, “The public’s involvement in naming our snow leopard cubs was heartwarming.

We received a fantastic response, and we thank everyone who took the time to cast their votes and be a part of this particular moment.

Zaya and Attan are ambassadors for their endangered species and symbols of hope for the conservation efforts we undertake here at The Big Cat Sanctuary.”

Distinct Personalities Emerging

Zaya, the female cub, already shows a confident and playful nature, often seen enjoying boomer balls and interacting energetically with her mother, Laila. In contrast, her brother Attan is more reserved but is slowly beginning to explore and exhibit his personality.

Snow leopards are listed as vulnerable by the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN), highlighting the importance of conservation efforts like those at The Big Cat Sanctuary.
