After responding to a shoplifting incident at a TJ Maxx store, two police officers in Texas made an unexpected and heartwarming discovery.
While returning to their vehicle in the parking lot, they were drawn to faint meowing sounds coming from beneath a car.
Leaning down to investigate, Officer Joe Bob Adkins discovered two tiny kittens, about six weeks old, tucked inside the car’s bumper.
“The kittens were found in the bumper, likely placed there by their mother,” explained Jesse Minton from the Arlington Police Department, as reported by The Dodo.
The car’s owner was completely unaware of the kittens’ presence, not owning a cat herself.
Once safely rescued, the officers took the kittens to their police car. Officer Adkins quickly formed a bond with the kittens, who began snuggling up to him and seemed to appreciate the comfort and warmth he offered.
Concerned about their well-being, the officers brought the kittens to a veterinarian for a check-up. Fortunately, they were in fairly good health, despite being hungry from their ordeal.
The officers fed them with a small bottle of formula. Satisfied and content, the kittens showered their rescuers with affection.
These affectionate kittens soon found a permanent home with Officer Adkins. Initially, adopting two new pets wasn’t part of Adkins’ plan that day.
However, after the kittens cozied up to him, he couldn’t resist bringing them into his family. In honor of their discovery place, he endearingly named them ‘TJ’ and ‘Max’.
