In Sao Paulo, Brazil, a dog named Thor was found covered in numerous porcupine quills.
The quills, distinctly yellow in color, were lodged in Thor’s muzzle, forehead, nose, ears, and legs, leaving the three-year-old golden brown dog in a great deal of distress.
Thor’s owner, Adriano Bertoline, who is currently unemployed, was overwhelmed by the veterinary costs required to treat the injuries. Desperate for help, he turned to the internet, launching a campaign to seek assistance for Thor’s medical treatment.

Catching wind of the appeal was Dr. Jose Roberto Apolari, a local councillor, who chose to lend a helping hand. He arranged for Thor to be taken to a veterinary clinic, generously contributing to the treatment expenses.
For Adriano, Dr. Apolari was nothing short of a lifesaver.
“Dr. Apolari was an angel in my dog’s life because I couldn’t afford a private veterinarian,” Adriano shared on Facebook, adding that his financial situation is particularly challenging with four children to care for at home.

Remarkably, this isn’t Thor’s first encounter with a porcupine. This is the second time in a year that Thor has had such a painful experience.
His previous encounter required the help of a friend who worked at a private veterinary clinic back in February 2021.
The aftermath of the confrontation on the porcupine itself remains unknown, as there have been no reports on its condition following the encounter with Thor.
