As Scarlett Johansson and Bono promote the animated film Sing 2, set to release in U.S. theaters on December 22, both stars appeared on The Ellen DeGeneres Show on December 14 to discuss their family lives and careers. Curious about their personal lives, DeGeneres asked the actors about their children and family dynamics.
Johansson, nominated for an Oscar twice, shared some light-hearted details about her 4-month-old son Cosmo and 7-year-old daughter Rose.

When asked if the siblings get along, Johansson said, “She’s pretty neutral, which I think is good.” She shared that Rose is often so excited to talk about her day that she’ll greet Cosmo briefly before diving into her stories.
Reflecting on Rose’s age, Johansson noted, “I think being seven is pretty psychedelic,” fondly recalling her memories.

DeGeneres responded humorously, admitting she doesn’t remember being seven – or even what she did the previous day.
When the spotlight turned to Bono, the U2 frontman spoke about his family, starting with his 20-year-old son John, who’s in college.
Bono humorously referred to John as “the boss of the family.” He also discussed his 22-year-old son Elijah, who is passionate about his band, Inhaler, which Bono proudly called “a great band.”

He praised his daughters, Eve, 30, for her successful acting career, and Jordan, 32, who he believes could “one day run the United Nations.”
DeGeneres then mentioned Johansson’s marriage to Saturday Night Live star Colin Jost, while Bono mentioned his upcoming 40th wedding anniversary with wife Ali Hewson.
Expressing admiration, Johansson asked Bono if he was still learning new things about his wife after so many years together.

Bono replied, “She’s hard to know… There’s a lot to learn about her still,” a sentiment that resonated with both Johansson and DeGeneres.
The conversation shifted to Sing 2, where Johansson voices Ash, a punk-rock porcupine, and Bono plays Clay Calloway, a legendary but reclusive lion.
The two even perform a cover of U2’s “I Still Haven’t Found What I’m Looking For” in the film, an experience Johansson said felt like a dream come true.

Bono revealed that his actress daughter Eve coached him for his role, adding a personal touch to his debut in animation.
