Scarlett Johansson recently encountered a significant legal hurdle when the court rejected her request for a restraining order against a persistent stalker.
According to a report from DailyMail, the stalker, Michael Joseph Branham, believes he is the father of Johansson’s son, Cosmo, whom she welcomed in 2021 with her husband, Colin Jost.

The court’s denial stemmed from a procedural error—Johansson’s attorney failed to properly serve Branham with the necessary legal documents.
Consequently, all existing restraining orders were dissolved, leaving Johansson and her family experiencing “significant fear and concern.”

The Avengers star initially sought the restraining order after enduring months of distress due to Branham’s escalating behavior.
Johansson disclosed that Branham’s obsession intensified around August 2022, leading him to show up uninvited at her home and leave children’s toys and letters meant for her son.
This legal setback underscores celebrities’ ongoing challenges in protecting their privacy and safety against obsessive fans.
