Realizing the urgency of the situation, Clanay quickly stepped in to care for the fragile pups. After making several calls, she learned the heartbreaking truth: the puppies had been dumped by a backyard breeder who fled after discovering they were severely ill and unfit for sale. Despite the grim circumstances, Clanay was determined to give the puppies a fighting chance.
Among the litter was a particularly tiny pup, whom Clanay named Lucky. He was the weakest of the group, so small that he resembled a hamster more than a dog. Though she feared for his life, Clanay refused to give up on him. Despite the odds, she began to form a deep connection with the little fighter.
Unfortunately, most of Lucky’s siblings didn’t survive, and Clanay braced herself for the possibility that Lucky might not either. But Lucky’s spirit was remarkably strong—he fought to stay alive, showing determination even in his frail condition.
Clanay alternated between bottle and syringe feeding to ensure he received as many nutrients as possible. Her efforts paid off, and to her amazement, Lucky survived the first critical weeks.
When Lucky first opened his eyes, Clanay and her family were overjoyed. She realized he had a real chance at life and made it her goal to get him to eight weeks old.
However, raising Lucky wasn’t without its challenges. She discovered that he was blind, which brought additional obstacles. Despite this, she remained committed to giving him the best life possible.
At four months old, Lucky underwent surgery to remove one of his severely damaged eyes. The procedure went smoothly, and he recovered quickly.
Shortly afterward, Clanay learned that Lucky was albino, which explained his unique appearance. However, more concerning news followed—a veterinarian diagnosed Lucky with a rare brain disease.
The diagnosis left Clanay speechless, but she didn’t let it deter her. She embraced Lucky’s health issues with grace and love, determined to provide him with the best possible life. For Clanay, it didn’t matter if Lucky had a “normal” existence; all that mattered was that he felt loved and happy.
In time, Clanay officially became Lucky’s legal owner, fully committed to his care. Despite his blindness and health challenges, Lucky grew into a playful and affectionate dog who enjoyed life to the fullest. His incredible journey is a testament to resilience, compassion, and the power of unconditional love.
