Witnessing children imitating their parents’ actions is a delightful experience for any parent. Recently, a heartwarming scene unfolded between a mother elephant named Somboon and her calf, Haven.
Every move Somboon made, Haven eagerly attempted to replicate. Whether scratching against a tree, blowing dust through her trunk, or picking up food, Haven was determined to follow in his mother’s footsteps, displaying an adorable look of concentration.
Haven and Somboon were inseparable, with Haven making it a rule to mimic everything his doting mother did.
This young elephant calf possessed a charm that could easily captivate anyone who came to meet him, stealing their hearts with his irresistible cuteness and innocent demeanor.
While pregnant, Somboon had been rescued from a trekking camp, where she had tirelessly carried tourists for long distances.
From day one, Haven displayed his unique personality. Often falling asleep standing up, seemingly unconcerned about the world around him, he quickly became a beloved figure.
As Haven continued to grow, he eagerly absorbed new knowledge and explored unfamiliar territories. However, he would often become frustrated while his mother happily enjoyed her meals, unable to use his trunk until he reached the age of one.
When Haven reached three months old and weighed around 150 kilograms, elephant experts decided to introduce him slowly to the rest of the herd to ensure their safety. It was a crucial step in his development.
Eventually, Haven formed a bond with Sudarat, the esteemed matriarch, and nanny of the elephant herd.
With his growing fondness for Sudarat, Haven began to spend less time with his mother, Somboon. This marked the beginning of Haven’s life within the herd, where he would spend many joyful years at the elephant sanctuary.
