Heartwarming Video: Blind Elephant Receives Help From Friend

Elephants are known for their gentle nature, strong friendships, and incredible listening abilities.

Contrary to popular belief, their remarkable sense of hearing comes not from their large ears but from their feet, which can detect rumblings and vibrations from the ground.

Lek Chailert, the founder of the Elephant Nature Park and Save Elephant Foundation, recently shared an inspiring video on Instagram featuring three elephants at the park.

The video occurs on a sunny day with food scattered on the ground. While one elephant enjoys the meal, Chana, another elephant, refuses to leave her adopted nanny, Ploy Thong, who is blind in both eyes.

Chana is seen guiding Thong toward the food by walking backward and facing her friend, allowing Thong to follow the sound of Chana’s footsteps.

The touching video has captivated many viewers, who have commented with curiosity and amazement. One user asked how long it took for the other elephants to realize Ploy Thong was blind and the reason behind her blindness.

Lek explained that Thong had worked at an elephant riding camp and was already visually challenged when she was rescued. However, the actual cause of her blindness remains unknown.
