Moyo, a baby elephant, faced a life-threatening situation when she tried to cross a flooded river just days after her birth.
Separated from her herd and vulnerable, she was discovered by rangers moments before a pack of hyenas could attack her.
They swiftly took Moyo to the Wild Is Life sanctuary, where founder Roxy Danckwerts stepped in as her new mother.
Now 14 months old, Moyo follows Danckwerts everywhere she goes. “She recognizes my voice, my scent, and always seems to know my location,” Danckwerts shares. As Moyo grows, managing her mischievous behavior around the house becomes more challenging.

Danckwerts explains the depth of their connection, stating, “I’ve formed an extraordinary bond of friendship, trust, and love with her.”
Eventually, letting go will be difficult, but Danckwerts is determined to allow Moyo and other orphaned elephants to roam freely and make their own choices.
Moyo’s rescue from the jaws of hungry hyenas led her to Wild Is Life sanctuary, where she found a loving home with founder Roxy Danckwerts.

Despite her increasing size and strength, Moyo remains unaware of her impact on her surroundings, including the silver spoons she shouldn’t eat. Her insatiable curiosity fuels her playful explorations around the house.
The special bond between Moyo and her human mother is genuinely heartwarming, and their story serves as a testament to the power of love and compassion.
